Travel information

Flight information

We know flights can get expensive, so here are some hints that may be helpful if you're flying out for the wedding!

If flying within the continental US, we have always found the cheapest flights using Skyscanner, but you are more than welcome to use other airline websites. Southwest is always a good option if you can find sale fares, and there have been times where we've found cheap sale fares through other airlines too. Just please be vigilant about booking earlier than later! Try to start looking for flights about 6 months in advance to be safe, but it always seems that about 4-5 months in advance proves to be the cheapest.

If flying to/from abroad, we definitely suggest Skyscanner or Momondo. Again, please be vigilant about booking earlier than later! Try to start looking for flights about 6 months in advance to be safe. For international flights, it is always a hit-or-miss in regard to when they're cheapest, so just keep an eye out for those sale fares!

For the Ohio Wedding, here is a list of suggested airports to fly into:

  • Port Columbus International Airport (CMH) - about a 20 minute drive from downtown Columbus with many options in getting from the airport to downtown, including taxi's, public & private buses, & car rentals

  • Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) - about a 2.5 hr drive from Columbus, but fares are sometimes cheaper to/from Cleveland

  • Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) - about a 3 hr drive from Columbus, but fares are sometimes cheaper to/from Pittsburgh

For the Finland Wedding, Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (HEL) is basically your only option. It's about a 30 minute drive from downtown Helsinki. There are many options in getting from the airport to downtown, including taxi's, public & private buses, & car rentals.

Transportation information

You are more than welcome to drive into Columbus if you are just a few hours away! Let us know if you are planning on driving in & need more information, or if you are interested in carpooling & have extra seats - we can put you in touch with other guests near you!

There are also many different options in getting from the airport to the hotel in both Ohio and Finland, so here are some suggestions!

For the Ohio Wedding, here are some options:

From Port Columbus International Airport (CMH):

  • Taxi's are about a $25 fare to downtown Columbus

  • Rental cars can be obtained through one of the eight on-site rental agencies

  • Shuttle service (most likely through our wedding shuttle service - the Beat Bus) will need to be booked ahead of time - if you are interested in this service, please let us know what day & time you are flying in so that we can coordinate with other guests

From Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE):

  • Renting a car from the airport's eight on-site rental agencies will be the easiest & most convenient. It will also give you the freedom of having a car in Columbus that may prove useful if you decide to do things outside of downtown!

From Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT):

  • Again, renting a car from the airport's nine on-site rental agencies will be the easiest & most convenient. It will also give you the freedom of having a car in Columbus that may prove useful if you decide to do things outside of downtown!

For the Finland Wedding, here are some options:

From Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (HEL):

  • Taxi's are about a €45-50 fare to downtown Helsinki

  • Buses:

    • HSL airport bus (Bus 615) provides transport to the Main Railway Station in downtown Helsinki for €4,50 & takes about 45 minutes

    • Finnair city bus provides transport to the Main Railway Station in downtown Helsinki for €6,30 & takes about 25-30 minutes

  • Rental cars are available through one of the five on-site rental agencies, but we wouldn't recommend getting a car - there is limited parking available downtown, gas is very expensive, & it is not the easiest city to manuver in with a car - we definitely suggest using the very functional public transportation system!!
